Rules

The Hervey Bay Junior Golf (HBJG) takes great pride in the quality of its players, host facilities and broad community involvement at each tournament. In order to continue making the HBJG experience enjoyable and rewarding for everyone, the program requires all members to adhere to a set of guidelines known as the Code of Conduct. Its purpose is to help HBJG participants grow and mature by understanding and accepting the consequences of their actions. The Code of Conduct is to be followed throughout the junior’s membership.

Etiquette

There are manners and customs in golf known as etiquette. The idea behind etiquette is to give everyone a chance to play their best, compete fairly and have fun. Golf etiquette is a mixture of common sense and courtesy.

Every golfer regardless of experience or level of play will be expected to abide by the same code of behaviour. Even when you step onto a golf course for the first time, there will be an expectation that you understand and observe the code of behaviour.

  • Failure to treat host golf course with respect by ignoring the responsibility of caring for the course, filling divots and fixing ball marks
  • Physical abuse, threat of physical abuse, verbal abuse, slander or libel towards other players, parents, coaches, sponsors, host golf course staff or members, HBJG committee members and volunteers in any medium

Required Dress at the Golf Course

With the exception of males always removing their hats/visors while indoors, the HBJG dress code is otherwise not in effect for functions taking place at the host hotel when the host hotel is not associated with the host golf course.

Code of Conduct Violation Penalties

Any Code of Conduct violation will result in a written letter to the player and his or her parent/guardian. The HBJG Committee may assess any or all of the following penalties based on severity and frequency of the violation(s):

  • One-stroke penalty for each act of unsportsman-like behavior on the golf course
  • Immediate disqualification from the competition at which the violation occurs
  • Depending on the severity of the violation, a tournament disqualification may also result in disqualification from the next event(s) for which a player has been accepted
  • The HBJG reserves the right to suspend or revoke a player’s membership for a major breach of the HBJG Code of Conduct

SUSPENSION INFORMATION

In the event of a suspension, both the player and parent/guardian will be required to submit a written account of the Code of Conduct violation to the HBJG Committee within 7 days of the suspension. The HBJG Committee will determine the length of the suspension after reviewing all submitted materials, including a HBJG tournament staff account of the violation. The Code of Conduct will be outlined by the HBJG committee at each tournament’s Players Registration, Players Meeting or during the Practice Round.
